You walk for about 10 minutes in a residential area. Perhaps you may be anxious that you have kept on the right route. Don't worry! This is surely in Kyoto city.
(You can go down at no.12 sign point of the mountain toward Higashiyama-shichijo area.
This area is very worthy of a visit because two wonderful temples and one great museum line a small area.
You can also get there on foot from Keihan-shichio Station very easily.)

Sanjusangendo-Temple was firstly established by Emperor Goshirakawa in the 12th century. The name "Sanjusangen - thirty-three spaces-" is derived from the number of the spaces between thirty-three pillars which line at north and sough 120m. This is also one of some temples which the visitors might be surprised to see inside the building. 1001 Buddha statues range densely in a rectangular building.
It is said that there is one statue whose face is similar to yours. It's so fun to find it.

This temple is famous for its unique style garden and the sliding door paintings by Hasegawa Tohaku. The garden view from the veranda of the main hall is expressed a small mountain covered by Japanese azaleas and maple trees, and the carps are swimming in the pond on the foot of the small mountain. It's so tranquil. There is a special room located on the side of the main hall. Here you can enjoy the National Treasure Paintings by Hasegawa Tohaku. These paintings from the 16th century, expressed a dynamic beauty of nature. It's the must-see treasures in Kyoto!

After passing over the top of the mountain, a different world meets your eyes! A lot of cars are driving fast. It's Route 1. Walk under this road, never cross it!
You may enter Mt. Kiyomizu. (242m altitude)
It's very easy to make it to the top of Mt. Kiyomizu. Unfortunately you can't overlook the city at all...
You can go down toward Kiyomizudera Temple. If you want to keep on trekking, go right.
After 5 min-walk to Kiyomizudera Temple, You may be surprised by the tourists' clamor! Yes! A very very touristy temple suddenly appears.

Kiyomizudera Temple was founded in 778 on Mt. Otowa.
It's famous for the big stage of the massive main hall, located 18m above ground.
This building was constructed without nails, and its harmony with the mountain surroundings is surprisingly beautiful.
Kiyomizudera Temple is also the sixteenth temple on a thirty-three temple pilgrimage.
Let's start the trekking again!
